Mission Telecom Offers Mobile Hotspot

The mobile hotspot provides broadband to Mission Telecom customers — primarily nonprofits, schools, and libraries — with pricing starting at $5.99 per 100 GB line for schools.

The Mission Telecom announcement said the hotspot allows users to benefit from high-speed connectivity, enhanced security, and cloud-based device management. The technology also supports provides long-range connectivity for up to 50 simultaneous devices.

With the Mission Telecom hotspots, organizations can connect from wherever they operate. According to the provider, the additional advantages include:

  • Closing the homework gap and expanding student access
  • Expanding and sustaining library hotspot lending programs
  • Enabling telehealth and mobile clinics
  • Powering disaster response and recovery efforts
  • Supporting remote nonprofit teams

The mobile hotspot availability comes on the heels of Mission Telecom announcement last month of a wireless offer designed specifically for schools that enroll by June 30, with prices starting at $5.99 per month for 100 GB and $7.99 a month for an unlimited plan.

“We are now in the middle innings of the 5G era, and thankfully devices are getting more advanced and more affordable,” Mark Colwell, Mission Telecom executive director, said in the announcement. “Mission Telecom is proud to bring the best technology with the best pricing to our partners to help unlock new opportunities for nonprofits, schools, and libraries to take advantage of Mission Telecom’s ultra-fast 5G network access.”

Mission Telecom has had a history of providing creative pricing plans, including a $7 per month plan called Mission-Connect introduced last summer. The provider introduced the plan because they expected Congress to cut the E-Rate program, which benefits schools and libraries.
